Review - Effortless by S C Stephens

Effortless

Effortless (Thoughtless, #2)

Blurb:

A lot can happen in a year. You grow, you change, you learn from your mistakes. And Kiera had made a lot of mistakes to learn from. But she had learned, and she was determined to never cause a man pain again, especially the amazing man who currently held her heart. But life offers new challenges for every relationship, and when Kiera’s love is put to the ultimate test, will it come out the other side unscathed?

Love is easy…trust is hard.

Review:

“Loving you, Kellan, is so easy, it's effortless."
His smile matched mine, then I frowned and sighed "Trusting you...that's the hard part"

This Quote describes Effortless perfectly - It is filled with love, lust and want but it is also jam packed with dis-trust and fear.

This is a continuation of
Thoughtless (My Review can be found at HERE). I'll recap Thoughtless to bring us into Effortless.

Thoughtless is about Kiera & Denny, a young couple who move across the country to allow Denny to follow his dream of working for a popular company.

They move in with Kellan - Lead singer of the D-Bags and hotter than hot man-slut.

Now, if you havn't read Thoughtless yet, stop reading this review and go read it - they are not stand alones!

To cut a long story short - Kiera cheats on Denny with Kellan, falls head over heels for him and they live happily-for-now.

“Ethics and I had crossed paths recently, and I’m not sure
that I fell on the right side of the morality line.”

Effortless follows Kiera and Kellan as they attempt to navigate a new relationship which was started on dishonesty and lies. Never an easy thing!

In Thoughtless, Kiera frustrated the life out of me with her immaturity, indecision and cowardice. I was fully prepared to put up with her in Effortless, purely to listen to more Kellan, Griffin and Anna.

Not necessary!!

Kiera grows up so much in Effortless. She becomes a young woman rather than an older teenager and it is so refreshing! Being with her through this growth actually makes you feel close to her.

Kellan is, as always, just sex-on-legs! The D-Bags are going on Tour with a world famous band, he has the girl of his dreams and his life is finally falling into place.

“Are you about to have sex in my bathroom?"
Without missing a beat, Kellan responded with, "Yes," and started closing the door.”

Well - that wouldn't make a good story now would it??

Throw in some family troubles, some old faces, some new faces and some old worries - and you have a captivating, angst filled and loving story.

“I actually took a step back as each of their eyes met mine. Evan's was sympathetic; that scared me. Matt's was appraising; that concerned me. Griffins's was irritated; that...was really nothing new.”

I really liked this book, and actually really want to read
Reckless now - which was not the case between Thoughtless and Effortless!

**4.5 Rock-an-Roll Stars**

About the Author:

S.C. Stephens is an independent author who enjoys spending every free moment she has creating stories that are packed with emotion and heavy on romance.

Her first attempt at a full-length novel was Thoughtless. She wrote the angst-filled love triangle in early 2009 and published it that summer on FictionPress. Amazed and surprised by the response, more stories were quick to follow.

Conversion, the first novel in a three story vampire series, was released in the fall. Collision Course, a tragic, yet hopeful tale of love and loss was released in early 2010. The second Conversion novel came out next, along with It’s All Relative, a different take on a one night stand story.

In addition to writing, Stephens enjoys reading other people’s fabulous novels, loading up her iPod with writer’s block reducing music, heading out to the movie theaters, and spending quality time with her children.
