5 Flat-Out-Fabulous-Stars!

“Gut-wrenching, overpowering, crushing, fulfilling, complex, bring-you-to-your-knees love.”

The above quote just about sums up how I feel about Flat-Out-Love. Just About sums it up...because I don't think it is possible to put into words just how this stunning book made me feel. How much it impacted me. How long I've been thinking about it.

Julie is our lead female in this. She has travelled across the country to attend College in Boston and, upon arrival, her rented apartment turns out to be non-existant. Just her luck!!

Her Mom calls in a favour from an old University Friend who lives in the area and Julie ends up staying with them for a while.

This seemingly-normal-from-the-outside-but-completely-bonkers-behind-closed-doors family consists of:

A Hard working, notably absent Mum and Dad
A Hot, Nerdy, Odd Middle Child Boy named Matt
A Hot, Travelling the World, Living-for-the-moment Eldest Boy named Finn
A Clever, Socially Inadequate 13 year old Youngest Female Child named Celeste

From the outset, we know something is a bit "off" with Celeste. She is too clever for her years, she has no fashion sense, she talks like she has a stick up her backside.

Oh...and she carries about a Life Size Cardboard Cut Out of her eldest Brother Finn who is off travelling the world.

The Funny Lines in this book just about had me doubled over with laughter:

What happens when you get scared half to death twice?”
“I hope that someday they invent a car that runs on inappropriate thoughts
“Thinks that twitter is like facebook's slutty cousin. It does everything dumb and whore-ish you're too responsible to do”
“Why is luge a sport? You dress up like a giant sperm and go sledding really fast. That’s hardly athletic. Phallic and sexy, yes. But hardly athletic.”

Don't go into this under the pretense of it being a boy-meets-girl love story because that is 100% not what it is.

This Novel is about Relationships - all kinds of them. Breaking them, Building them and Repairing them.

Mother and Daughter
Mother and Son
Wife and Husband
Brother and Sister
Brother and Brother
Friends to More than Friends

There is nothing predictable in Flat-Out-Love - absolutely nothing. That is what make it Flat-Out-Amazing!!

Jessica Park has blown a lot of other New Adult Novels out of the water with this one.

Fantastic and one of the easist 5 Stars I've given in a long time.
